Make: KC/Robotics - Saturday March 3Science City's Town Hall Meeting Room, Saturday March 3 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. We're continuing a tradition started by the Kansas City Robotics Society (KCRS) of meeting at Union Station/Science City each month for a robotics show & tell. KCRS had a history of promoting autonomous robots. We've enjoyed many table top competitions and opportunities to share our experiences. Make:KC/Robotics will continue supporting autonomous robots while expanding into other interesting technologies that incorporate radio controlled/wireless communications, GPS navigation, CNC technologies, microcontroller/computer controlled devices emerging such as the "Internet Of Things", DIY Drones, Battle Bots, Kinetic Art, and more. Life-Long Learning is a goal with Make:KC. We are looking for ways of supporting kids and robots. Finding ways to "Bring Robotics Home" with options that parents can more easily afford. The popularity of Arduino makes it a great platform to start learning about controlling motors, sensors, LED's and actuators. Other embedded devices will be considered as ways of stepping up to more sophisticated equipment. This month we have Steve Siegel coming out to talk about finding larger motors with controllers that get discarded in garage sales, flea markets, and trash day. If you have a robot and want to show it off, bring it out for us to see. Hope to see you this Saturday as we start building new traditions with Make:KC/Robotics.
