We are now accepting entries for exhibits, demonstrations, and competitors at our Maker Expo set for Fri-Sun August 23-25, 2013 in English Landing Park, downtown Parkville, MO.
Make: KC's fourth annual Maker Expo is set for August 23-25, 2013 in English Landing Park, downtown Parkville, MO. We are honored to produce the Maker Expo at this year's 45th Annual Parkville Days festival. This popular event attracts an estimated 20,000 people each year and includes 150 artists, crafters, makers, vendors, carnival, and many other attractions. Maker Expo is Kansas City's original grass roots Maker event.
Power Tool Drag Racing
This year we've added Power Tools Drag Racing to our lineup. We are looking for more racers to help make this an exciting event. We are also looking for sponsors to help offset the cost of building the track. Check out our Power Tool Drag Racing web page for rules and more information.
We are looking for volunteers to help our exhibitors, the Power Tool Drag Racing activities, and with set up and tear down needs. Please let us know if you are interested in helping by sending an email to MakerExpo@MakeKC.org
Sponsors help underwrite the costs of this expo and become supporters of a larger goal, which is to encourage a Do-It-Yourself (DIY) “maker” culture that includes both youth and adults. To help sponsor this event check our 2013 Maker Expo Sponsorship page or email us at MakerExpo@MakeKC.org
Makers and Exhibits
We are looking for makers, artists, tinkerers, hackers, and students inspired by Make Magazine and the Maker Movement's do-it-yourself experience to exhibit your projects, conduct workshops, or provide interactive activities that engage kids and adults. We like projects/activities that promote creativity and inventiveness by supporting the core values of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) and believe the Arts provide a vehicle for these values.

This is a great opportunity to promote your Makerspace or Hackerspace.
We look forward to seeing you at this year's event!

Rob Bishop From Raspberry Pi Foundation is coming to Maker Expo.
Rob's 2013 Hackerspace Tour is stopping by to make a presentation:
Rob has given talks about the Raspberry Pi at various events worldwide, in venues ranging from conference halls to community meetings in garages.
Rob Bishop, an engineer and evangelist for the Raspberry Pi Foundation, will present a talk entitled "Raspberry Pi - One Year On" that will cover both the origin story of the Raspberry Pi as well as outlining recent developments. The talk will present technical information about the Raspberry Pi alongside a discussion of the Foundation's educational aims.
Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity for an in-depth Q&A on both educational and technical matters."
Rob Bishop was the first technical employee at Raspberry Pi and is currently one of two full time software engineers. Alongside his engineering responsibilities, Rob also acts as an "evangelist" and works to promote the educational mission of the Foundation.
